Once upon a time there was a girl called Gemma Scully and her Mother was a dressmaker. This inspired Gemma’s creative side and she wanted to make things too, she loved all the ribbon, silk thread and little buttons she found herself surrounded with. After graduating from The University College for the Creative Arts in Farnham, Gemma decided she wanted to make jewellery forever, so she set up a business back home in her native Manchester and became a designer maker of precious contemporary jewellery.
Gemma found she was still inspired by the same objects she used to see in her childhood, and wanted to incorporate them into her work. So for her latest range she combines silver with textile materials. Gemma loves incorporating iconic and retro objects into her work to reflect elements of the wearer’s style or maybe even their inner child.
Using delft casting process she makes all of her work by hand, Gemma feels it’s important that she makes all parts of the work and they are all hand made, as she loves creating new objects and using the old traditional methods. She sells the pieces through outlets and exhibitions throughout the UK.
