Mokume gane is an ancient Japanese technique developed in the 18th century. Metals of different colours are intimately bonded together in intricate patterns which are individual and never the same twice. This makes mokume uniquely suited to symbolise the matrimonial relationship.

In addition, take a technique developed in ancient Japan, used by a Polish artist working in Britain with modern mokume developed by American artists and technicians working in Arizona and you have a marriage of cultural cross fertilisation on a grand scale.

In order to make the rings suitable for a lifetime of wear I have avoided copper alloys and will use coloured golds, silver and palladium to achieve the various patterns. The observed colours will not depend on patination, and so will not rub off with wear.
