
My work has always been about giving asthetic value to the everyday mechanical wonders that surround us.
From the eject button on your video recorder to Kinder Surprise toy kits, such items use ingenious mechanisms that are quickly dismissed as mundane.
I make jewellery because in this precious medium, I can develop the idea that the mechanism or fastener is the artform and that it remains the central feature of the piece.
The element of surprise and the visual deception of my pieces serve to remind us of ancient times, when ingenuity of design and craftmanship, not binary codes, protected a secret.
